Customer Stories: Caroline’s Bali-Inspired Bathroom

Caroline and her husband’s Cheshire home, shared with their two gorgeous spaniels Maia and Millie (the stars of @meetxmillie), marks their very first renovation project – an exciting venture that they’re taking step-by-step, room-by-room while living there.

A designer by trade, Caroline knew from the outset that creating a meaningful home wasn’t about rushing to the finish line. Instead, the couple are deciding to take their time while embracing the process, lovingly reimagining each space and tackling every DIY step themselves to reflect their personal style and make the home truly their own.

“We’ve been slowly renovating our home ourselves over the past couple of years,” Caroline explains. “Our style is clean, minimal, and a little bit luxe, but we love mixing in cosy, earthy elements too. Think modern design meets boho and Scandi vibes with natural textures, soft neutrals, and lots of layered simplicity.”

Their recent bathroom transformation might be their most impressive yet. Designed to be a calming retreat from the rest of the house, and the dust of other ongoing renovations, the space blends boutique hotel luxury with the grounded serenity of a nature-inspired palette.

“We really wanted the bathroom to be a little sanctuary,” Caroline says. “Somewhere to escape from all the chaos and just unwind. Hotel bathrooms were a big source of inspiration, but we also kept coming back to the natural, open-air feel of Bali outdoor bathrooms. That combo helped us create a space that feels tranquil but still elevated.”

At the heart of the design are two standout tiles from our marble-effect porcelain collection. Amalfi Gold, used in the shower area, provides a rich, warm backdrop with a high-polished surface that instantly elevates the space, paired with Calacatta Amber Matte across the floors and remaining walls, an elegant marble-effect tile with delicate bronze veining. Together, the combination balances rich detail and soft veining in a way that feels elevated but never overpowering.

“They brought this luxe, high-end vibe to the space and helped set the shower apart as its own little retreat,” Caroline says. “The subtle veining and soft texture added just the right amount of depth without overwhelming the room,” she explains. “Together, they struck the perfect balance of neutral and sophisticated, and really pulled the whole design together.”

While the finished design itself speaks volumes, Caroline’s experience behind the scenes made the process all the more enjoyable, having visited our Wilmslow showroom during the early stages of their design planning.

“Honestly, the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. The showroom staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful with all our enquiries and samples. Our order arrived right on time, perfectly packaged, and everything was just as beautiful as we’d hoped. We couldn’t be happier!”

The finished result? A spa-style bathroom that feels elegant yet welcoming, enjoyed by the whole family – even Millie & Maia! For more dreamy interiors, renovation updates, and adorable dog content, follow Caroline at @meetxmillie over on Instagram.
